Last year, Alexis Hettick’s 5-year-old daughter Taelyn came in for a general appointment with Wayne Washenberger, PA-C.

“Wayne Washenberger noticed her stomach was extended so he took an x-ray of the stomach and did blood work. He then recommended we go to Sioux Falls where it was discovered she had a rare disease known as Caroli’s Disease,” explained Hettick.

Taelyn has been bravely fighting Caroli’s disease with the help of many different medical facilities that Bowdle has worked in conjunction with.

“We’re so thankful to Bowdle. They’ve been super throughout it all,” said Hettick.

“She had a transplant in April so we had to do bloodwork every week. We’ve also been to the ER five times in the last year. They’ve been super in helping our daughter get better,” continued Hettick. “We have a lot of respect for them and their clinic.”

As the Hettick’s continue their fight, Hettick has said that Washenberger and Dr. Lacey Kessler’s help have meant so much.

“It’s more like we’re family than just patients,” expressed Hettick.
