Bowdle Healthcare Public Health provides a wide range of services to residents of Bowdle and surrounding areas.

Our job is to make it possible to sustain a healthy life through basic care, education, and a helping hand when needed.

We provide:

  • Homehealth Services

  • Homemaker Services

  • Personal Care Services

  • Nursing Services

  • (WIC) Services

  • Immunizations

  • Pregnancy Care

  • Car Seats, Pack N’ Plays, CPR Class

Homehealth Services

Bowdle Healthcare Center is not a Medicare Certified Homehealth Agency therefore we do not accept Medicare as payment. Payment source is either private pay or through Department of Social Services for those who income qualify.

Payment for Home care services are either through Homemaker Services, Personal Care Services, or Nursing Services.

Homemaker Services provide needed assistance to individuals to complete activities of daily living that they are unable to perform alone.

Homemaker Services are day-to-day household tasks including:

  • Basic Housekeeping (dusting, cleaning, vacuuming)
  • Laundry
  • Local grocery shopping/errands
  • Meal preparation

Personal Care Services provide needed assistance to individuals who are unable to complete personal care tasks alone.

Personal Care Services may include assistance with the following tasks:

  • Personal hygiene
  • Bathing
  • Washing hair
  • Dressing
  • Grooming (i.e., combing hair and shaving)

Nursing Services provide needed assistance to individuals who have physical and/or chronic health conditions which limit their capability to function independently.

Nursing Services include:

  • Periodic evaluation to promote and maintain an individual’s optimal health status and includes the following tasks:
  • Conducting physical assessment and monitoring health status
  • Consulting with pharmacist and/or physician
  • Monitoring, setting up and dispensing medications
  • Blood Draws
  • Providing foot care and nail care

Public Health Services

Women, Infant, Children (WIC) Services): WIC is available to South Dakota residents who are pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum, or to infants and children under the age of 5 who need help with their health or nutrition. See SD website for more information at https://www.sd.gov/wic

Immunizations: Immunizations for children 0-18 years of age who meet the income criteria. Medicaid, no insurance, underinsured, American Indian/Alaskan Native. Also, provide Flu and COVID vaccinations for adult and child populations.

Pregnancy Care: Monthly prenatal education along with referrals to other resources if necessary

Car Seats: Provides car seats to those children who meet the income criteria.

Pack and Play: Provides pack and play to infants under the age of 1 who meet the income criteria.

CPR Class: CPR classes are held for the general community, daycares, and Fire Dept. and EMTs as requested.
